Movement is Medicine™
Movement is Medicine is HNF’s free virtual fitness program, built for CMT bodies. Live, adaptive classes led by instructors who understand hereditary neuropathy, so you can move safely, keep the strength and balance you have, and do it from home.
What Movement is Medicine is
For a long time, people with CMT were told to be careful with exercise and left without much guidance on what safe, useful movement actually looks like. Movement is Medicine is HNF’s answer: a virtual fitness program designed specifically for CMT bodies, taught by ambassador instructors who live with CMT themselves or are trained in adapting movement for hereditary neuropathy.
The classes meet people where they are. Seated and standing options, chair yoga, gentle strength and balance work, and sessions focused on heart health, all paced for a range of ability and adjustable for braces, fatigue, and balance concerns. Alongside the movement, the program shares nutrition guidance, because how you fuel your body affects energy, mood, and inflammation when you live with CMT.

Why it matters
Movement, done right, is part of CMT care
Regular, appropriate movement is one of the most useful things you can do while living with CMT. It will not reverse the disease, but it helps maintain the strength, flexibility, and balance you have, supports your heart and your mood, and can reduce falls. The key word is appropriate: overdoing high-impact or fatiguing exercise can set you back, which is exactly why Movement is Medicine is built and taught for CMT rather than borrowed from a general fitness class.
