TRIAD partnership model

TRIAD, Therapeutic Research in Accelerated Discovery, is how HNF organizes the work of finding CMT treatments. It brings academia, government, and industry together around a single goal, advancing to clinical trials, with the patient voice built in from the start. When you partner with TRIAD, you plug into a network and a body of evidence that is already in motion.

Academia + Government + IndustryThree sectors, one coordinated strategy.
Patient voice firstGRIN puts patients at the front of every program.
Council-guidedCMT experts review proposals and assess outcomes.
Discovery to diagnosticsPartners span the full therapeutic continuum.

The three sides of TRIAD

Partnerships vary with research goals, the milestones met in preclinical or clinical development, and the terms of each strategic alliance. What stays constant is the structure: progress for CMT happens where these three sectors meet.

Academia Award-winning researchers at top-tier universities driving discovery science and disease models.
Government Regulators and agencies, the FDA and EMA, engaged early so the patient voice shapes the path to approval.
Industry Biotech and pharmaceutical companies across the drug discovery, development, and diagnostics continuum.

TRIAD grew out of HNF’s patient-focused research, the conviction that patients are the key stakeholders in therapy development. By understanding patients’ experiences, preferences, and outcomes, HNF can prioritise the projects most likely to matter and support its industry partners with evidence that holds up.

That conviction is also why, in 2013, HNF built GRIN, the Global Registry for Inherited Neuropathies, as part of TRIAD: to conduct patient-focused research and development for treatments and cures. The patient voice is at the forefront of everything that follows.

What TRIAD partners can access

A TRIAD partnership is a doorway to HNF’s full research infrastructure. Each resource below is a program in its own right, and they are designed to work together.

GRIN registry data IRB-approved natural history and patient-reported outcomes to design and recruit studies. CMT Biobank Patient biospecimens linked to consented registry data for models and biomarkers. Centers of Excellence A network of trial-experienced CMT clinics with trained research coordinators. Trial infrastructure Validated outcome measures and the four-step pathway to a CMT trial. Regulatory strategy Patient-experience evidence and FDA-aligned engagement.

Frequently asked questions

What is the TRIAD partnership model?

TRIAD (Therapeutic Research in Accelerated Discovery) is HNF’s consortium model that aligns academia, government, and industry around shared CMT priorities, with the patient voice built in through GRIN. It is how the field aligns on protocols, endpoints, and trial design instead of relitigating them program by program.

Who can become a TRIAD partner?

TRIAD partners span the drug discovery, development, and diagnostics continuum: biotech and pharmaceutical companies, university researchers, and government and regulatory bodies. Partnerships vary with research goals, the milestones met in preclinical or clinical development, and the terms of each strategic alliance.

What does a TRIAD partner gain access to?

A TRIAD partnership is a doorway to HNF’s full research infrastructure: GRIN registry data, the CMT Biobank, trial-experienced Centers of Excellence, validated outcome measures and the four-step trial pathway, and an FDA-aligned regulatory strategy. Each is a program in its own right, designed to work together.

How does TRIAD keep the patient voice central?

TRIAD grew out of HNF’s patient-focused research and the conviction that patients are the key stakeholders in therapy development. GRIN, the Global Registry for Inherited Neuropathies, was built as part of TRIAD so that patient experiences, preferences, and outcomes are structured into endpoint selection and project prioritization, not added at the end.

How do we start a TRIAD partnership?

Contact a research partner and tell us where your program sits, whether you are advancing a preclinical program or planning a pivotal trial. HNF will connect your work to the patients, data, and expertise that move CMT therapies forward.
