CMT Biobank collection dates

The CMT Biobank is the reason a researcher with a promising idea does not have to spend two years finding people to study. It holds blood, DNA and tissue from people with CMT, linked to their genetic and clinical data, and qualified researchers can request from it.

Collections run in cities across the country throughout the year, and each one is a single appointment. You give a sample where the community is already gathering rather than making a separate trip to a clinic.

To find your date, choose your city from the event dropdown in the sign-up form below. Every scheduled city and date is listed there, and it is the list that gets kept current, so it is always the one to trust. You may attend whichever location suits you, not only the one nearest home.

A donation is a blood draw, not a procedure, and the appointment is short. What it buys is disproportionate: a single sample can be used across many studies and many years, so one visit keeps paying into research long after you have forgotten you made it.

This matters most for the rarer subtypes. For a common form of CMT researchers need volume to see a pattern. For a rare one they need presence, because with so few people affected anywhere in the world, one family showing up can be the difference between a pattern nobody can see and one somebody can finally act on.
