CMT Family Planning Webinar - Part 1: IVF & CMT
When it comes to family planning & CMT, there are ever-growing concerns, questions, and scientific developments that can seem overwhelming and have us questioning, “Where do we start?”. The Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation aims to shed light on this vast topic with a 3-Part Family Planning Series.
Family planning when you or a loved one has Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT, the most common inherited peripheral nerve disease) raises a wide range of concerns, questions, and rapidly evolving scientific options. To help the CMT community navigate this complex topic, the Hereditary Neuropathy Foundation launched a three-part Family Planning Series.
Part 1 focuses on in vitro fertilization (IVF) and CMT. Genetic counselors Tara Jones of Cedars-Sinai and Laura Rust of the Mayo Clinic walk through what to expect when considering IVF, covering the process, genetic testing options, and key decision points. The webinar runs approximately 90 minutes and is designed to give a thorough grounding in both the medical and emotional dimensions of this path.
